Premium tears: Kenyans react to Uhuru’s extension of COVID-19 restrictions
President Uhuru Kenyatta had barely left the podium after his speech on Saturday where he extended various existing restrictions to curb COVID-19 spread when the memes started coming in.
Among the restrictions the Head of State extended – much to the disappointment of Kenyans online – include the nationwide dusk-to-dawn curfew, ban on social gatherings and bars as well as cessation of movement in and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan and counties of Nairobi, Mombasa and Mandera.
President Kenyatta, towards the end of his speech, also shocked many when he expressed awareness of the various memes posted by Kenyans on social media in anticipation of what was christened ‘Freedom Day.’
