Prepare for a Jubilee win come 2017, Ruto tells CORD
Deputy President William Ruto has told the Opposition to prepare themselves for defeat come 2017, because the Jubilee government had already got the support of Kenyans due to its development record.
Citing the strides that Jubilee has made in electricity supply, provision of free maternity and other development projects, the DP said that he is confident that the newly formed Jubilee Party will take home over 70 percent of the votes cast in the next poll.
“I want to tell my friends from the opposition that they should be prepared for a strong defeat. Let them not blame anyone after the loss for they have failed to organise themselves” he said.
Commenting on the merger of Jubilee affiliate parties into one outfit, the DP refuted claims that the move was aimed at stifling democracy.
“We are doing this not to kill democracy, but to unite Kenyans. This is the only way that we can push the country forward,” he said.
Ruto took a swipe at the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy – which has been embroiled in public wrangles over the selection of a presidential candidate –, saying that the delay in the selection of a flag bearer was indicative of lack of leadership.
“Up to now, they even do not have their presidential candidate. Do you want to tell me that they can lead this country?” he posed.
Political leaders led by Laikipia west mp Wachira Karani, Governor Joshua Irungu and MPs David kiaraho (Ol kalou) Waweru Ndiritu (Ndaragwa) Laikipia Women representative Jane Machira Apollos backed Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Ruto was speaking at a fundraising at 91-Municipality Primary School in Nyahururu.
