President Kenyatta appoints 4 IEBC Commissioners approved by Parliament

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed four new IEBC Commissioners a day after they were approved by Parliament.

In a Gazette notice dated September 1, 2021, the president formally appointed Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya, to the position of IEBC Commissioners.

This comes after the National Assembly approved the report of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, which cleared the four nominees forwarded by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The four now await their swearing-in and subsequent assumption of office.

The Gazetting was done to puncture a case that was filed on Wednesday seeking to stop the appointment of the four Commissioners

The matter was to come up at 9am.

Also appointed are the five nominees to the Teacher Service Commission who were given a nod by the National Assembly.

They are Nicodemus Ojuma, Christine Kahindi, Sharon Jelagat, Annceta Wafukho and Salesa Adano.

The appointees are set to be sworn in by Chief Justice Koome.
