Jubilee Party made a majestic entrance into Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa County in a calculated move to break down opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition support at the coast.

The Tononoka rally was the epitome of a three-day offensive campaign in the perceived opposition stronghold.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto led the Jubilee brigade into Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta and Mombasa Counties – a tour that saw high profile politicians from the coast region ditch opposition parties for Jubilee Party.

Tana River County top leadership led by Governor Hussein Dado, Deputy Governor Jire Sayat, Senator Ali Bule and Women Representative Halima Ware were officially received into the ruling party by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the rally.

The Tana River crew joined Taita Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo and Women Representative Joyce Lay who left Raila Odinga-led ODM Party for Jubilee.

President Uhuru Kenyatta stood up against what he termed as opposition’s deliberate effort to tarnish his government’s development record in order to win voters.

He castigated the NASA leaders of propagating lies regarding the government and employing divisive politics to wrestle power.

“When you stand you just to insult, you just incite. And that is why I also get angry and respond to them,” President Kenyatta said in a seemingly attempt to respond online attacks over his recent angry outbursts.

Kenyatta viciously defended the construction of modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) saying the new line will revolutionalise the business environment in the country.

“It will enable us to increase the volume of business at the port here (Mombasa). It will help our friends at Voi to start industries, to manufacture their raw products. It will create employment for our people,” said the head of state.

Jubilee Party earmarked partnership of Suleiman Shabahl and Anania Mwamboza to wrestle Mombasa County governorship from Ali Hassan Joho took the opportunity to roar loud in the coast city.

Shabahl unleashed scathing attacks on Governor Joho alleging that the incumbent has squandered resources allocated to the county in petty initiatives.

Shabahl said that Joho has led hard-core politics that has resulted in polarisation along religious lines as well as between coastal region natives and immigrants from the interior.

Former Kisauni MP and Jubilee Party designated deputy governor for Mombasa County Anania Mwamboza accused Joho of inability to solve youth unemployment problem and discrimination in county employment.

Shabahl promised to prioritise eradication of drug dealers from the streets of Mombasa within the first one hundred days of his tenure, if elected.
