President Kenyatta holds mini cabinet meeting

President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently holding a mini cabinet meeting at Syokimau, however the agenda is still unclear.

Deputy President William Ruto, Attorney General Githu Muigai and a number of cabinet secretaries including Judy Wakhungu and James Macharia are said to be present at the special meeting.

President Kenyatta convened the cabinet meeting immediately after officially launching of Standard Gauge Railway Station at Syokimau in a brief ceremony.

The Head of State did not issue any official remarks at the launch as had been expected.

There have been controversies surrounding the construction of the railway.

In early August, the Nairobi County Government filed a petition seeking to stop payment of Sh2.5 billion as compensation for land earmarked for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway.

The county, through its lawyer Titus Koceyo, claimed that fraudsters out to fleece the county government had emerged with fake title deeds for parcels of land located along Embakasi Township Reserve.

The county government claimed that the compensation process should be halted as some people had acquired fake title deeds to suit particular pieces of land in order to be eligible for compensation.
