President Kenyatta in Zambia for State visit

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, Friday for a two-day State Visit.

On arrival, at Kenneth Kaunda International airport the President was warmly received by his host President Edgar Lungu and Kenyans residing in Lusaka led by the Kenyan High Commissioner to Zambia Ambassador Sophy Kombe.

President Kenyatta received a 21 gun salute before inspecting a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Zambian Defense Forces.

During his visit, the Uhuru will officiate the opening of the 51st Zambia International Trade Fair.

Boosting partnership

President Kenyatta and his host President Lungu will hold talks aimed at enhancing mutual relations between the two countries on Friday.

The talks between the two leaders are expected to focus on other areas of strengthening cooperation and also discuss the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) between the two countries.

A partnership between the two countries is seen to be mutually beneficial as Zambia can learn a lot from Kenya in terms of enhancing its tourism potential while the Kenya stands to benefit from Zambia’s vast mining experience.

Uhuru, who has been accompanied by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohammed and other senior Government officials, is expected hold discussions with the founding father and first President of the Republic of Zambia Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.
