President Kenyatta mourns Muranga Senator Irungu Kangatas father

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence to the family, relatives and friends of Mzee Joseph Irungu who passed away on Sunday.

Mzee Irungu, who is the father to Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata, succumbed to cancer at a Nairobi hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

In his message of comfort to the family, the President described the late Mzee Irungu as a kind and hardworking man who was always mindful of the interests of his community.

“Mzee Irungu was a gentleman. His simplicity in handling matters of life endeared him to many,” President Kenyatta eulogised.

President Kenyatta said the fruits of his labour can be seen by the way he raised his children having been a pioneer motorvehicle mechanic in Murang’a town, a business that has continued to thrive since he set it up in 1957.

“Mzee Irungu is a true role model of what can be achieved through Technical and Vocational Education and Training. Certainly many young people in Murang’a town got first hand experience from Mzee Irungu’s workshop,” he said.

The President prayed to God to give the family of Mzee Irungu strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
