President Kenyatta mourns Robert Oukos widow

President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the death of the late Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko’s widow, Christabel Ouko, who died in a tragic accident on Monday, August 21.

Christabel died in a road accident in Muhoroni, Kisumu after attending Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang Nyongo’s swearing-in ceremony.

According to President Kenyatta, Christabel was “a brave and a hardworking lady who helped his late husband serve this nation diligently back then.”

“During her long life, she distinguished herself by her dedication to her family, her community and her country. She also served the nation as a civil servant. In later years, she devoted herself to her family and to her community; in doing so, she helped others make the most of their talents, and earned their gratitude,” said President Kenyatta.

Ouko’s son, Ken Ouko, and other two occupants, who were also in the car, survived and are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The late Robert Ouko was arguably the most successful foreign minister Kenya has ever had, accomplishing a series of achievements during the Retired President Daniel Moi’s regime.
