Uhuru, Raila in second public handshake at golf outing
President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga met again on Sunday at the Muthaiga Golf Club and even shared a second public handshake.
This comes even as their March 9th handshake at the President’s Harambee House office continues to cause ripples across the Jubilee and NASA camps.
The two leaders, flanked by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and other political leaders, were in attendance at the Barclays Kenya Open 2018 where they shared quite sometime together.
This becomes the second public handshake between the two leaders who called for truce into their highly polarized political feuds and agreed to walk the talk in chatting the country into a new chapter, devoid of ethnic undertones.
“Time has come for us to confront our differences because they are becoming too entrenched. We refuse to allow our diversity to kill our nation, we refuse to be the leaders under whose watch Kenyans lead into a failed nation,” Odinga said during the March 9 address at Harambee House.
“This country is greater than any one individual and for this country to come together, leaders must come together and address what ails our nation. This marks a new beginning for our country and that we can differ in political alignment but always remain steadfast and united in matters Kenya,” President Kenyatta said at the time.
