President Kenyatta Realigns Country’s Security

The President, on the advice of the Defence Council under the Chairmanship of Defence Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Raychelle Omamo appointed Lieutenant General Samson Jefwa Mwathathe as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) designate.

The President also appointed Lieutenant General Joseph Kiptoo Kasaon as deputy CDF Designate and Major General Leonard Muriuki Ngondi as Army Commander Designate.

The President also made postings, promotions and appointments of officers of the Kenya Defence Forces.

Other changes are as follows;

Major General Jonathan Kipkemoi Rono promoted to Lieutenenat General and appointed Force Commander AMISOM.

Brigadier Charles Gichovi Tai Gituai promoted to Major General and remains as Chief of Joint Staff EASF.

Brigadier Benjamin Biwott promoted to Major General and remains as GOC EastCom.

Brigadier Walter Raria Koipaton promoted to Major General and appointed GOC WestCom.

Brigadier Andrew Karanja Ikenye promoted to Major General and appointed Deputy Commandant NDC (military).

Brigadier Micheal Mulwa Munywoki promoted to Major General and appointed Managing Director KOFC.

Brigadier Joseph Nderitu Mwai promoted to Major General.
