President Kenyatta skips presidential debate

President Uhuru Kenyatta has skipped the presidential debate, shunning an opportunity to engage his main rival Raila Odinga in the televised event watched by millions of Kenyans.

The televised debate, organized by Debates Media Limited and held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, is broadcast live by the maimstream media on TV, radio and on social media platforms.

The Jubilee Party leader had indicated he would not show up for the event in spite of calls by his supporters to attend the event.

During the first phase of the debate featuring less popular candidates, three presidential candidates including Abduba Dida, Joe Nyagah and Cyrus Jirongo gave the debate a wide berth with the Alliance for Real Change citing ‘media bias’.

Despite the no-shows, candidates Dr Ekuru Aukot, Dr Kaluyu Kavinga and Professor Wainaina took centre stage to sell their agenda to Kenyans with 14 days to the General Election.
