President Kenyatta welcomes first grandchild, ‘Baby Wanjiru’

The first family has a new member after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s first son, Jomo Kenyatta and wife Fiona Achola welcomed a baby girl on Sunday.

Achola, who wed younger Kenyatta last year, gave birth to “Baby Wanjiru”, the couple’s first child and President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret’s first grandchild on Sunday at the Aga Khan hospital.

Achola Kenyatta is the granddaughter of the late Dr. William Odongo Omamo and niece to Defence Cabinet Secretary, Raychelle Omamo.

This is an early present for the president-elect who is set to be inaugurated tomorrow, November 28, for his second term in office.

Grandfather Uhuru showed up at the hospital minutes after the baby was born and we are told he was very happy and was even dancing after he met her. He also took lots of selfies with the doctors and nurses.

There was heavy security at the hospital though there were no interruptions as Mrs. Kenyatta was in the VIP wing.

The Kenyatta’s are notoriously publicity shy and not many even knew they were expecting until a heavily pregnant Achola and her husband attended an event together with the First Lady at the Marula Manor last week.

It was the same case with their dating life which only came to light after their traditional wedding. The were to do a white wedding in 2017 but that never materialised.

Mother and daughter are doing well and their high profile grandparents, we are told, are over the moon.
