President Launches Cashless Payment For PSVs

The president equally approved the use of contemporary graphics and graffiti on public service vehicles.

The president approved the graffiti on condition that it does not interfere with safety.

He added that the government should help create employment for young people.

The president was speaking today during the launch of a cashless payment system for public service vehicles.

The launch was held at the Kenya International Conference Center, KICC.

As a way to show support for the sector, the President Kenyatta rode in a matatu from State House to KICC.

The implementation of the cashless payment system has a deadline of 1st December 2014.

At the same time, President Uhuru lifted the ban on 14 seater public service vehicles in rural Kenya saying its implementation was difficult.

The president also urged the relevant agencies to consider pick-up trucks as private and not commercial as they’ve always been considered.
