President Uhuru Kenyatta in Uganda for Northern Corridor meet

President Uhuru Kenyatta has left the country for Kampala, Uganda, to attend the 10th Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIP) Summit.

The project being implement by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan, is aimed at opening up regional economies through linking infrastructure and reducing bureaucracy.

Top on the agenda is the launch of NCIP website, signing of a deal to liberalize labour and services and a memorandum on cyber security, through the initiative meant to link landlocked Uganda, Rwanda and south Sudan to Kenya.

Among Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit achievements are removal of non-tariff barriers, slashing cost of doing business, harmonized roaming charges, issuance of East African tourist visa among others.

The Heads of State of the participating countries meet after every two months to provide political will and policy frameworks to fast-track the implementation of projects.

The plane carrying the President and his delegation departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 4.00 PM and was seen off by Chief of Defense Forces Gen Samson Mwathethe, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and other senior civil servants.
