Uhuru signs Bill on county cash

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday signed into law the Equitable Division of Revenue Bill for 2018/2019 financial year.

The Bill, signed at State House Nairobi provides for the equitable, division of revenue raised nationally between the National and County governments.

“Each county government’s allocation under subsection (1) shall be transferred to the respective County Revenue Fund in accordance with a payment schedule approved by the Senate and gazette by the Cabinet Secretary (National Treasury) in terms of section 17 of the Public Finance Management Act,” the Act says in part.

The Bill was approved by the Senate on September 2, last year. The National Treasury willl publish a monthly report on actual transfers of all allocations made to county governments.

The Bill was presented to the president for signing by Justin Muturi who is the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Also present were Attorney General Paul Kihara Kariuki, Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto and Assistant to the National Assembly Clerk, James Njoroge Mwangi.
