Pressure mounts on Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti to disband his cabinet

Local leaders in Homa Bay County have continued to pile pressure on Governor Cyprian Awiti to disband his cabinet over alleged corruption and incompetency.

The leaders now say they want the county chief to appoint a new cabinet that can prudently use public fund to deliver services to the residents.

The latest area leader to join these calls is Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) Board Chairperson Odoyo Owido who accused the County Executive Committee (CECs) of using public funds meant for development to enrich “their selfish interests.”

Mr. Owido, speaking during a fundraiser at Mititi Secondary School in Kasipul on Saturday, said “every year the government injects billions of shillings to counties,” but that there is no single noteworthy project that has since been undertaken using the funds.

He further claimed that the physical infrastructural projects in the county are privately owned by individuals working in the county government using public kitty.

The LBDA boss added that the only way to salvage the county government from is for Governor Awiti to restructure his cabinet as soon as possible.
