Primary school teacher drowns inside dam

Police in Ugenya have launched investigations into the death of a 43-year-old teacher who drowned in Yenga dam at Lifunga village on Thursday evening.

Stephen Otieno Omoga, a teacher at Draho Primary School in Ukwala Location, is suspected to have committed suicide following domestic wrangles.

According to Senior Chief Michael Owuor Osodo, the teacher reportedly hired a boda boda operator to bring him home from Sega Town but requested that they stop midway near the dam.

In an interview with Radio Ramogi, the chief said the motorcyclist was paid Ksh.100 and then saw the teacher remove his coat before jumping into the dam.

He said the body was recovered on Friday and taken to Sega Mission Hospital to await post-mortem as investigations into the matter begin.

The deceased apparently had domestic problems with his wife who later jilted him a few days before the incident occurred.
