Prison wardens in court for stealing cigarettes, Big G and murder

Two prison wardens and one accomplice were arraigned in a Machakos Court to answer to theft and murder charges.

The three, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mbugua and identified as John Wambua, Wycliffe Osoro and Stephen Ogala, denied the charges committed on the night of 13th and 14th June 2016.

The court heard that the three accused persons at Muumandu in Machakos County, with others not before the court, armed with rungus and pangas stole from Raphael Kathui a box of cigarette, a carton of phones which had also phone batteries and a carton of Big G all valued at Ksh 12,000 and killing Jackson Kilonzo Muange and Teddy Muange.

They were also faced with another count of planning to steal contrary to the law on diverse dates of the month of February and June 2016 at Machakos GK prisons by giving out prison wardens’ uniforms in Muumandu, Katoloni, Kariobangi and Eastleigh in Machakos.

The first accused, John Wambua, was also accused of being in possession of stolen goods.

The court ruled that it will consider the bond application when the case comes up for mentioning on June 20th, 2016.
