Prison warder charged with assault

The High Court sitting in Embu on Tuesday issued an order for investigations into a case where a prison warder at Embu GK Prison allegedly assaulted a prisoner on 23^rd June 2015.

While delivering the ruling, Embu Resident Judge Florence Muchemi further ordered Inspector Peter Njoroge to appear before court on 7^th July over the incident that left the inmate with serious injuries on both legs.

The judge has further ordered the convict, Francis Njagi Ireri, who is serving a life sentence be taken to Embu Level 5 Hospital for treatment, acquire a P3 form and statements from other witnesses be recorded.

The case will be heard on 7^th July when the inspector will be arraigned in court and medical records presented.
