Prisoner dies after escaping from Migori GK Prison

A prisoner who attempted to escape from Migori GK Prison on Saturday, January 13, is dead.

The inmate whose name is yet to be revealed by the police, died at Migori Level Four hospital where he was rushed for treatment .

Migori County Police Commandant Joseph Nthenge said the prisoner died while undergoing treatment on Saturday night.

The county police boss said he is yet to establish what the deceased suffered from before his demise, adding that his office will liase with the hospital to establish the cause of his death.

The deceased and another prisoner were  attempting to escape from the Migori GK prison when they were rearrested after a 30-minute manhunt outside the prison premise.

A third prisoner, who was together with the two who were arrested, managed to escape from the prison and he is yet to be traced.

The three staged the escape during a church service at the prison where a new Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church was being launched by Pastor Bering Ngore.
