Probe begins after body of man,30, is discovered hidden under a bed in Nyatike

Police in collaboration with the provincial administration in Nyatike sub-county have launched an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old fisherman whose decomposing body was found stashed beneath his bed in a rental house at the Yugislavia estate in Sori town.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi the area Assistant chief Barnabas Majiwa said the body of the deceased, identified as Benard Okoth had stab wounds as well as multiple lacerations.

The body had been wrapped with clothes.

Mr.Majiwa said the death of the fisherman was established after his neighbors detected a strong odour coming from the house.

In the company of the police, the area chief said they went to the house and found the door locked from outside and the police broke the door so that they could access the house.

Mr.Majiwa said the body that was kept beneath the bed had started decomposing an indication that the incident happened several days ago.

He said the neighbor indicated that the deceased was living with a lady who has also been missing from Saturday last week, the same day the man went missing.

The area chief said they suspect that the missing woman may have been involved in the murder of the fisherman.
