The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has commenced investigations into an alleged inciteful song that has been said to attack another community.

Through a press statement signed by NCIC Chairman Francis Ole Kaparo, the commission has acknowledged receiving complaints about the said song that they say has been making rounds on social media.

The song, Ikamba by Isaiah featuring Waharaka, appears to attack members of Kamba community for their anti-charcoal burning stance that saw a lorry carrying charcoal torched last week.

The duo, who are eating mangoes in the low quality video which has since hit over 24,000 views on YouTube, ridicule the community saying they will all starve once the mango season is over going as far as saying they will “eat birds.”

The song has elicited sharp comments from the public majority who are against the song’s message.

Kaparo says his office will work closely with the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to investigate the matter and bring the suspects to justice if found guilty.

“In the meantime, the commission retaliates that as Kenyans we must be careful on utterances we make especially if it may lead to ethnic tension and incitement,” says Kaparo.
