National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Musalia Mudavadi has asked the national government to carry out genuine investigations into the cause of death of the late CS for Interior and Coordination of National Government Major Gen (RTD) Joseph Nkaissery.

In a statement sent to newsrooms on Sunday, Mudavadi said that the NASA fraternity held the the late CS Nkaissery in high esteem.

“We hope the promised speedy investigations by the government take off, are genuine and will not be marred in deliberate mix-ups that could lead to cover-ups,” Mudavadi said.

The former Deputy Prime Minister said that the country and Nkaissery’s family stand to benefit from knowing how such a healthy person could drop dead in a matter of hours.

“We hope his death was natural and not by the sleight of hand by evil forces intent on destabilizing the country, especially during this election period,” the NASA campaign team leader said.

Mudavadi lavished praise on the late Cabinet minister, saying despite their various run-ins with him over his abrasiveness he was a great leader who had passion in public service.

“We know he had deep belief that public service was a duty and calling and served to the best of his ability. His military training also instilled in him a high sense of discipline and patriotism for the motherland,” the Amani National Congress party leader said.

He said that Nkaissery’s work ethic was that of discipline and the scaling down of runaway insecurity in the last two years can be attributed to the late CS’s methodical approach in tackling insecurity in the country.
