Probe starts after cop burnt to death inside his house in Nyeri

An Administration  police officer based in Kiambu reportedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze inside his house at Muthuini Village in Kieni west. 

Kieni West sub-county police commander Ahmed Ali confirmed the Monday evening incident.

“Jana tulipata report kwamba kuna mtu alijichoma kwa nyumba, tukapata ni affina wa polisi anayefanya kazi Nairobi,” the police boss said. 

According to reports, the policeman’s wife had traveled to Murang’a before the incident. 

The couple’s kids were also away-in school- during the incident.

“Ni kama alingoja kila mtu aondoke, ndio akafunga mlango akajichomea huko kwa nyumba,” the sub-county police boss added. 

The body of the deceased was removed to the Mary Immaculate hospital mortuary pending an autopsy. 

An investigation is also underway to unravel the said incident.
