Prof. Mbithi Installed As UoN Vice Chancellor

The incoming VC has been installed during a special event at the University of Nairobi.

Prof Mbithi takes over from Prof George Magoha whose term at the university has expired after serving for 8 years

Mbithi becomes the seventh Vice-Chancellor, since the inception of the University of Nairobi in 1970.

This comes after a rigorous and competitive recruitment process conducted by the University Council in October 2014.

The formal appointment was made by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi as per the law

Prof. Mbithi holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Master of Science and Phd from the University of Nairobi and Master of Veterinary Science from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

He is a prolific researcher and has attended numerous international conferences and published widely in his area of veterinary medicine

Prof. Mbithi was Professor of Veterinary Medicine and previous Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, a position he has held since 2005.
