Prosecute CORD Leaders Over Utterances, Says Leaders

Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau and Maragua MP Kamande Mbuku have said that although the constitution provides for the right of expression, it also preserves national security and prohibits abusive language.

The trio said the constitution also prohibits the use of inciting utterances and threatening messages under the national cohesion and integration act and asked the inspector general of police to act with urgency to curb the tension spreading in the country.

Kandara Mp Alice Wahome said what CORD is doing is the height of impunity and disrespect for the nation.

She called upon Kenyans to refuse to be drawn into the desperation of cord and its leadership noting that it is paramount for Kenyans to observe peace.

She said the law clearly stipulates against incitement and that CORD’s leadership should be held accountable for their actions and insisted that the inspector general must not shy away from his responsibility.

On his part, Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau said Kenyans should ignore the calls for the sabasaba rally and wondered what will happen if by then President Uhuru Kenyatta will not have given in to calls for a national dialogue.

He claimed that CORD wants to create chaos in the country to portray President Kenyatta as a failure and then call for a revolution.

He however urged the president to completely ignore Raila saying Raila and his party should acknowledge that Kenyatta has the support of the majority of Kenyans.

The legislator also added that its absurd for the former prime minister and his team to insinuate that national security issues can be solved in a national dialogue between him and the president.

Maragua MP Kamande Mbuku said mass actions were held in the past to protest for a new constitution and that there’s no call for such a debate.

He urged Kenyans to go about their businesses on that day adding that those uncomfortable with the provisions of the consititution should ask for a referendum.
