Prosecute Waiguru or legalize corruption Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, has lashed out at former Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, saying that she must be prosecuted over the loss of Ksh 1.6 billion at the National Youth Service (NYS) during her tenure as CS.

Speaking in Koloa at the border of Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet on Friday, November 18, Murkomen said that action must be taken against Waiguru if the country is to make meaningful gains in the war against graft.

Murkomen, who was mentioned against Deputy President William Ruto’s right hand man Farouk Kibet as having a hand in the NYS scam, accused Waiguru of perpetrating graft at the NYS.

“I do not know if one Waiguru is guilty, but the evidence that has been presented is enough to try her in a court of law,” said Murkomen.

The Senator said that the country should consider legalizing corruption if the former CS is not prosecuted.

“If Waiguru is not prosecuted, then we should consider legalizing corruption so that everyone can still their bit.”

The seemingly irate Senator claimed that Waiguru was a thief and one who is supposed to be behind bars.
