Protest at Kibos Sugar factory after three killed in accident allegedly involving company car

Hundreds of protestors stormed Kibos Sugar Factory in Kisumu to protest the death of three people in a road accident alleged to have been caused by the company car over the weekend.

The angry locals caused a huge traffic snarl-up on Kibos Road as they marched from the accident scene to the factory.

A private car alleged to belong to the owner of Kibos Sugar Factory is said to have hit the three people killing them instantly.

The locals are alleging that police are covering up the incident and the suspect who was arrested was not inside the vehicle which caused the accident.

Lawyer Kennedy Omollo said the suspect was arrested and released on bond adding that they have expressed to the police that the person who was arrested was not driving the said vehicle.

On Tuesday, police were officers were called in to disperse rioting youths who had camped at the Kibos Sugar factory.
