Protesting Makueni MCAs charged with incitement

Five Makueni members of Makueni County Assembly who were on Thursday arrested after storming a school to block a new headteacher from taking over were arraigned today.

The MCAs; Jades Kalunda (Kikumbulyu South), Nominated MCAs Miriam Musyoka, Nicholas Maitha (Thange), Urbanus Wambua and Janet Ngina were charged with incitement to violence, conspiracy to cause injury of reputation and undermining authority of a public officer, were released on on a Ksh.500,000 bond with a surety of the same or an alternative cash bail of Ksh.300,000.

The leaders who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate at Kilungu Law Court however denied the charges.

The case will be mentioned on February 15th, 2018.

They were arrested after storming St. Joseph’s Girls, Kibwezi protesting the transfer of the new headteacher.
