Protests and Prayers for Slain MP George Mukuru Muchai

Residents of Kabete constituency have given the government a seven days ultimatum to identify and arrest the killers of their Member of Parliament, George Mukuru Muchai. The legislator, his driver and two bodyguards were shot dead on Saturday by gunmen along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi's Central Business District. Speaking during a special prayer service in Wangige market, traders, bodaboda operators and local residents said they have been angered by the killing of their legislator in cold blood.  The residents who were carrying placards have expressed concern about the slow pace of investigations as no suspect has been arrested since the Saturday murder. They want the government to ensure there is transparency in updating the public on the progress of ongoing investigations into the killings of the MP and his aides.
