Protests as OCS allegedly kills man in Uasin Gishu

A senior police officer is on the spot after he allegedly shot and killed a man in Burnt Forest town in Uasin Gishu County.

Tarakwa Police Post OCS is said to have fatally shot a young man who was accused of being a bhang peddler in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, police arrived at the scene and began arresting suspects before shooting one of the accused.

Police, however, denied the claims saying some of the suspects attempted to escape prompting them to open fire, shooting one of them who died on the spot.

Following the incident, residents held demonstrations and blocked the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway paralyzing business activities at the town on Saturday.

Confirming the events, Eldoret East Police boss Richard Omanga said investigations into the matter were underway.
