Protests rock Kisii town ahead of DP Rutos visit
Protests broke out in Kisii town on Thursday morning where Deputy President William Ruto was expected to meet bodaboda riders, market traders and a section of Gusii leaders.
Reports say clashes were between a section of youth allied to the handshake and those leaning towards DP Ruto.
A video seen by Citizen Digital showed a section of riders saying they had to meet Ruto by all means.
They accused the local leadership of leaving them out during the DP’s visit preparations, and using their plight to enrich themselves.
Elsewhere, photos showed the chaos that rocked the town on Thursday morning; bonfires had been lit while on some parts, fruit carts had blockaded key roads.

Police had to lob teargas to disperse the protesters who had camped by roads, threatening to cripple the DP’s visit to the region.
