Public Service Commission advertises Kinisus EACC post

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has advertised the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) Chairman’s post after former chairman Philip Kinisu resigned a week ago.

According to the advertisement, applicants must be holders of a degree from a University recognised in Kenya and must have experience of not less than 15 years in ethic and governance, law and leadership.

Further, according to the advert, those seeking the post should have met the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution and must have had a distinguished career in their respective fields.

According to the statement, a person shall not qualify for appointment if he or she is a member of a governing body of a political party or has been removed from public office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution.

“The Chairperson, Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission shall be appointed for a single term of six years, shall not be eligible for re-appointment and shall serve on a part time basis. The allowances payable to the Chairperson, being a state officer, shall be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission,” read the advertisement.

Applicants have until September 28, 2016 to apply.

Kinisu bowed to pressure on Wednesday last week and resigned as the commission’s boss.

He tendered his resignation to President Uhuru Kenyatta just one day after MPs tabled a damning report in which they accused him of failing to declare his interest in a family business that won tenders from the National Youth Service (NYS).

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly had recommended for the formation of a tribunal to probe the EACC boss over the issues raised against him.
