Pupil who scored 372 in 2019 KCPE repeats Class 8 over lack of school fees

A boy who scored 372 marks in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education has been forced to repeat Class Eight due to lack of school fees.

Victor James sat his KCPE exam at St.Peters Academy in Rongo Sub County and secured an invitation to join Kangeso Secondary School.

James, who is a partial orphan, opted to return to Captain Choice Academy in Rongo Sub County after his poor grandmother failed to raise secondary school fees.

The boy has been raised by his aging grandmother who says she has exhausted all possible ways to raise school.

As he sits in Class Eight at Captain Choice Academy, James says he still wishes to join secondary school urging for the support from well-wishers.

Captain Choice Academy Head-teacher Mr. Wycliffe Odoyo said he opted to give the pupil an opportunity to repeat Class Eight after he realised that he is susceptible to bad influence should he remain out of school.

Migori County Education Director Elizabeth Otieno, however, said she has directed the Rongo Sub-county Education Director to trace the boy and ensure that he is admitted at Kangeso Secondary School so that any financial assistance from well-wishers can be done while he is in school.
