Puzzle of armed DP Ruto’s security men found at MP Oscar Sudi’s home during dramatic raid

Three police officers attached to Deputy President William Ruto were grilled on Thursday over Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi’s escape during the raid at his house.

Officers handling the matter sought to find out what business the elite guards were conducting at Sudi’s home when police officers arrived to arrest him.

The Standard reports that the two officers; a chief inspector and two constables are attached to the Presidential Escort Unit-

The unit handles the security for the president, his deputy and their families.

On the fateful day, investigations say the officers had dropped off the DP at his Sugoi home before retreating to the Kapseret legislator’s home.

Reports further indicate that the officers had failed to declare who they were even after officers fired shots near the legislator’s home.

It was after officers got into the MP’s home that the two elite guards emerged, armed with two pistols and 30 rounds of ammunition between them.

Sudi is charged with hate speech, offensive conduct, resisting arrest, being in unlawful possession of a firearm and assault of a police officer.

A group of political leaders allied to him, led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, attended the court session in solidarity with him.

The Kapseret MP was arrested for alleged offensive remarks he made against the person of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Before his arrest, the outspoken controversial legislator that insisted he had insulted no one and would not apologise.
