Quit archaic style of politics, Ruto tells politicians

Deputy President William Ruto has called on political leaders to quit the age-old form of politics and focus on uniting Kenyans.

Speaking during an inter-denominational church service at Tulon High School in Nandi County, the deputy president said the mission of Jubilee leaders is to unite Kenyans regardless of their regional, religious and tribal affiliations.

“Our mission as Jubilee leaders is to unite Kenyans and getting rid of age-old politics that focuses on division,” he said.

“We should unite and face the challenges facing the country as one. This is the only way for us to succeed as a nation.”

Ruto has in several occasions drummed up support for the Jubilee party in his past addresses saying the party will unite Kenyans from across the divide.

The deputy president said the party would bring together other affiliate parties currently under the Jubilee coalition, and called on opposition coalition CORD to do the same.

Ruto said the formation of Jubilee Party has been necessitated by the government’s desire to form a united country devoid of ethnic bias and tribalism.

CORD leaders have however rubbished the claims saying the move by Jubilee is aimed at inhibiting democracy in the country.
