Deputy President William Ruto has called on ‘rebel’ Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro and his Kilifi South counterpart Mustafa Iddi to quit Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and join Jubilee.

Speaking in Malindi on Sunday, Ruto said that such a move would make it easy for the government to work with the leaders in ensuring development is realised in their areas.

The DP said that Jubilee was the only party that would unite Kenyans from across geographical locations to promote unity in the country.

“We have spoken to leaders from Kilifi, Kwale and other parts of Coast and we have agreed to abandon our parties and join Jubilee for the sake of unity,” he said.

“Some of us were in URP, President Uhuru was in TNA, Eugene was in New Ford Kenya while others were in UDF, but we decided that in order to foster unity in the country we should approach the next elections with one party.”

He exuded confidence that Jubilee will form the next government come 2017, saying it was his desire to ensure the people of the Coastal region are included in the party.

“When we leave URP and join Jubilee, when Uhuru leaves TNA and join Jubilee, the likes of Mung’aro and Mustafa should leave ODM and join Jubilee to ensure we move forward as one party,” said the DP.

Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani said that the current leadership needs youth who will be ready to move forward when called upon.

“We do not want to just be part of arithmetic; we want to have a sense of belonging. Jubilee belongs to all of us and therefore Munga’ro will lead us in negotiations within Jubilee,” said Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani.

On his part, Munga’ro said that they would want to be involved in the formation of Jubilee saying he would take part in the September 9th official launch of the party.

“We want to be at the high table on September 9th in order to be included in the allocation of roles in the new Jubilee Party,” he said.

Ruto is on his second day in coast region as he seeks to drum up support for the new party.
