Race for Kericho governor seat hots up with new entrant

As the political landscape in the country is taking shape ahead of the August 8th polls, the race for Kericho County governorship has intensified with the entry of Engineer Fred Kirui.

Kirui who hails from Kepkelion Constituency has received massive support from former politicians as well as the business community in the region.

In a meeting held at Kedowa, Former Roads Minister Franklin Bett and ex area MP Magerer Langat endorsed Kirui to replace the incumbent Prof Paul Chepkwony in the forthcoming General Election saying he will champion for the rights and interests of the people.

The leaders further pledged support for the Jubilee Party and rallied supporters to enlist as voters.

They accused Governor Paul Chepkwony of failing to fulfill his election pledges and marginalizing people from Kipkelion in his development plans.

The leaders also castigated Governor Chepkwony for his recent trip to London regarding a land case involving multi-national tea companies.

They exuded confidence in Kirui emerging ahead of the pack in the August polls promising to pull enough voters for him.

The race for Kericho gubernatorial seat has so far attracted four candidates including Ainamoi MP Benjamin Langat, Richard Langat, Fred Kirui and incumbent Paul Chepkwony.
