Raila accuses Jubilee of fueling greed, corruption and tribalism

CORD leader Raila Odinga has accused Jubilee of imposing unnecessary burdens to Kenyans through corruption that has led to loss of billions of shillings.

Speaking on Wednesday at the beginning of his two-day visit of Laikipia and Samburu Counties, Odinga said Kenyans are bearing the brunt of corruption effects that have bedevilled the Jubilee government and threatened to destabilise the economy.

Odinga, who was in the company of ODM deputy party leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and other officials, castigated Jubilee over alleged mismanagement of the country that has led to increased corruption, frustration of devolution and apparent unfair electoral practices.

He pointed out the loss of Eurobond money, corruption allegations at the NYS, and National Youth Fund Enterprise as indicators of a supposedly failed regime.

“The funds lost in the scams under Jubilee could have been used to improve security and much needed infrastructure in Laikipia and Samburu counties that have long been marginalised,” said Odinga.

The CORD leader called for comprehensive investigations into the Youth Fund and asked Jubilee to be ready for more questions and revelations on the Eurobond saying the opposition has not said its last on the scam.

On devolution, the CORD leader cited alterations to laws governing community land as yet another attempt by Jubilee to frustrate the functioning of county governments and take power away from marginalized communities especially on matters of land.

He opposed the Community Land Bill 2015 advocated by Jubilee saying it will further disenfranchise the landless in Laikipia and similar counties where land and other natural resources play critical roles in the economic life of pastoralists

In his address, Governor Joho asked Kenyans to be aware of Jubilee apparent plans to rig the 2017 elections and prepare accordingly.

Joho pledged support for Odinga’s candidacy in 2017 and called for far reaching electoral reforms before the polls.

He promised to mobilize the youth to guard the vote to ensure CORD wins elections.
