Raila accuses Uhuru of undermining opposition governors

Cord leader Raila Odinga on Saturday accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of undermining opposition governors questioning Jubilee government’s projects.

While pointing out the recent case where GSU officers barred Governor Hassan Joho from attending the re-launch of Mtongwe Ferry Services in Mombasa County, Odinga termed this as a wide scheme by President Kenyatta’s government to silence opposition leaders in counties.

Speaking during his first stop-over at Uwanja wa Mbuzi in Nyali constituency after arriving in Mombasa County ahead of an ODM rally at Tononoka grounds on Sunday, the opposition leader Odinga said Jubilee government has failed to deliver its promises to Kenyans.

The NASA co-leader said Jubilee’s failure to deliver its promises was the reason President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were busy criss-crossing the country “launching projects that do not benefit Kenyans ahead of the August 8th poll.”

Odinga said that Kenyans will not accept to be duped and urged them to remain focused and ensure they kick out Jubilee government in the upcoming General Election.

The opposition chief, however, lauded the Mombasa County government for the construction of a modern stadium, saying it will help bring youth together and grow the sports industry in the county.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Ferry Services acting managing director Khamis Gowa and the board chairman Ramadhan Seif Kajembe on Saturday dismissed claims that the recent re-launch of Mtongwe Ferry Services by President Kenyatta just was mere politics to attract local residents vote for him in the next elections.
