Raila bows out of Presidential debate

The National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has announced that he will not be taking part in the upcoming Presidential Debate.

In a statement to newsrooms, Odinga’s Senior advisor, Salim Lone, said the NASA presidential candidate will not participate in the July 10, 2017 presidential debate under the current proposed format and stipulation.

NASA Presidential Campaign Secretariat has, however, called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to be open to engaging Odinga in a debate on issues affecting Kenyans.

This announcement came just moments after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that he will not be taking part in the debate citing lack of consultations.

The Presidential candidates’ debate for the eight presidential candidates is set to take place on July 10 and 24, ahead of the General Election set for August 8.

The sessions will take place from 7.30 pm at Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

The running mates’ debate will take place on July 17 at the same time.
