Raila calls for prosecution of IIEC officials involved in chickengate scandal

Cord leader Raila Odinga has maintained that all top officials of the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) who were mentioned in corruption allegations by UK company Smith & Ouzman should be investigated.

Raila reiterated that those whose names appeared on the charge sheet in a London court over the ballot paper printing tender scam should be probed by Kenyan authorities and prosecuted.

In a statement from his aide Dennis Onyango, the former prime minister said those mentioned in the scam remain unfit to hold public office, saying it will be unwise for the 2017 General Election to be conducted by persons with questionable integrity.

Raila also lauded former Judiciary Chief Registrar Gladys Shollei for making efforts to exonerate herself from the Sh50 million IIEC bribery scandal.
