Raila claims IEBC wants to print extra ballot papers

Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has alleged there is a plot by the electoral agency to print extra ballot papers to tilt the August 8th General Election against his favour.

The NASA leader Raila claimed that two million extra voters were cast in the 2013 poll, saying these misgivings with IEBC are the reasons why the opposition alliance opposes the ballot paper printing by Al Ghurair firm in court.

“We now know the truth. Everybody knows what they did in 2013 concerning printing of ballot papers. That’s why they want this company to print extra ballot papers,” Raila Odinga said.

Raila was speaking on Monday while receiving a delegation of leaders from Kiambu in Nairobi ahead of Tuesday NASA tour of the voter-rich county which has more than one million voters.

The ODM party leader expressed optimism of trouncing President Uhuru Kenyatta in August, scoffing President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto’s call for his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka to abandon him and join Jubilee Party.

“NASA represent the face of Kenya. This country is going to face a social economic revolution. We are in a process of transforming our country. We want to tell our opponents that change is coming. Jubilee can’t win. We are going to talk about issues affecting Kenyans. We will tell them we have solutions,” said Raila.

“August 8 will mark the beginning of the change we as NASA intend to bring to the country,” said Raila Odinga.

Raila said they would begin this journey on July 7 in Uhuru Park where they would hold prayers and later on proceed to Kamukunji Grounds for the commemoration of Saba Saba Day.

The country is experiencing economic constraint which is causing Kenyans to suffer. Everywhere Jubilee leaders go to campaign, Kenyans complain about unga which is just one among many other problems that the country is facing.

Raila claims that they (NASA) are against printing of the ballot papers by Al Ghurair to avoid a similar situation as in the 2007 general election where there were 2 million extra votes.

Odinga said that Jubilee insist on giving Al Ghurair the contract to print ballot papers because it belongs to their friends and they have shares in the company. “The company will print extra ballot papers,” he added.

He explained that NASA will continue to be against printing of ballot papers by Al Ghurair.
