Raila confident in Wafula Chebukati-led IEBC

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader, Raila Odinga, has affirmed his support for the new look Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) saying he believes it will be unbiased in the ongoing voters registration exercise and thereafter conduct free, fair and transparent election on August 8, 2017.

Raila slammed the outgoing Ahmed Issack Hassan-led commission as hell bent against him claiming that he won the 2013 General Election only to be denied victory by the electoral body.

While speaking at Gesima Market, Nyamira County, on his country wide voter registration mobilization drive, Raila urged his supporters to come out in large numbers to register as voter, to participate in the forthcoming elections, and assured them that this year he will be very alert to expose any election rigging attempts by his competitors.

Both the ruling Jubilee coalition and the opposition are engaged in a cutthroat competition to enlist the highest number of voters in their strongholds as means to edged out the other in the August polls.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday, January 19 commenced an elaborate tour of his Mount Kenya political bedrock to mobilise his supporters to register as voters.

President Kenyatta’s tour, that began in Gatanga Constituency, Murang’a County, will culminate on Tuesday, January 24, in Embu County.
