ODM leader Raila Odinga has defended Interior CS Fred Matiang’i over alleged involvement in the fake gold scandal that has yet again rocked the national government.

He described Matiang’i as a hard working State officer whom the Building Bridges Initiative and President Uhuru Kenya enlisted to fight corruption.

The opposition leader claimed the CS who at one time worked in his office was being fought by his detractors including impersonating him.

Raila said investigations into the bogus gold will expose the culprits and the truth unearthed.

He was speaking during the funeral of the late Dr. David Gilbert Ombati, his family physician, at Manga Isecha in Kisii county.

Area Senator Sam Ongeri echoed similar sentiments claiming that there were some individuals colluding to fix him.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka said Kenyans are tired of politics of hate and urged Deputy President William Ruto to temper his abuses against Raila.

The agitated lawmaker said the DP must respect the opposition leader owing to the role he played in Kenya’s second liberation.

He challenged Dr. Ruto to instead demonstrate how corruption can be tackled and eradicated in the country.
