Raila faults Jubilees three-year score card

CORD leader Raila Odinga has faulted a litany of achievements that the Jubilee administration has been citing during its three years in power.

Odinga, who spoke while on a series of political meetings in Maralal, Samburu  County, says the government has been backtracking on development projects initiated by the former administration in which he led alongside former President Mwai Kibaki.

Odinga termed the decision to terminate the Green Field terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as unfortunate, saying it blurs Kenya’s dream to achieve the Vision 2030.

Odinga is now accusing the government of insincerity in its reasons to terminate the project that would have cost up to 100 billion shillings.

The Green Field terminal project was one of the Vision 2030 flagship ventures which the Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia  and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) now say had to be called off for lack of funds.

During the State of the Nation address in Parliament Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta enumerated achievements by his administration since April 2013, including the expected completion of the Standard Gauge Railway by June 2017.

Odinga, however, feels other projects including the Lamu port and Lamu-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor projects have stalled.

Odinga was on a tour of Samburu County where he persuaded residents to stay alert and make a conscious decision as the 2017 General Election fast approaches.
