Raila faults Uhuru for snubbing presidential debate

National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga has faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta for snubbing the presidential debate held yesterday at the Catholic University of East Africa.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Runyenjes Embu County, the opposition leader said President Kenyatta erred by skipping the televised presidential debate but indicated that he took the opportunity to explain  his agenda to Kenyans.

“The media invited the two front runners for the debate but Uhuru snubbed the event. However, I used the 90 minutes to promise Kenyans that I will tackle the three main problems facing the country including poverty, poor health and lack of education,” said the former Prime Minister Raila.

His sentiments were echoed by his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper Party leader,  who chided the Jubilee Party leader for his no-show.

“The debate is a platform that the President could have used to defend his track record. Hee was wrong to skip the event,” the Wiper leader Kalonzo said.

The former vice Ppresident defended his decision to skip the running mates debate on July 17, saying it was a ‘tactical move’ by NASA.
