Raila has not joined Jubilee, NASA is intact – says Kalonzo

The National Super Alliance is intact, Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has assured.

Speaking on Saturday in Matinyani during a campaign rally for Wiper’s Kitui West by-election candidate, Mrs. Edith Nyenze, Kalonzo disputed press reports that NASA was on its deathbed.

According to Kalonzo, the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga did not mean that the Orange Democratic Movement leader had joined Jubilee.

“Raila has not joined Jubilee and is fully behind NASA,” he said.

The NASA co-principal, who declared himself as the glue that holds NASA, said he will strive to ensure that the opposition alliance holds together.

“We have invested a lot in NASA, we cannot allow NASA to die, I am the glue that holds NASA together,” declared Kalonzo

Supporting the Uhuru-Raila Peace Initiative, Kalonzo called for an all-inclusive political dialogue.

“We are ready for an all-inclusive consultation that will ensure peace and stability for the country. We would not like chaos in Kenya,” he said.

Kalonzo further gave a blow-by-blow account of his political journey from 2007 to date, declaring that he no longer had any debts to pay.

The former Vice President told of how he had assisted former President Mwai Kibaki in 2007 when he (Kibaki) was facing the political guillotine from Raila and his team.

“Shortly before the 2013 General Election, elders asked me whether I had any issues with Raila. I said, ‘No, I have no issues with him…’ only that he had insulted me by calling me a watermelon.”

He said he had repaid his debt to Raila after supporting him in two General Elections where he insisted they won but “our victory was stolen each time by Jubilee.”

Kalonzo urged Kitui West constituents to turn out in large numbers on March 26 to vote for Mrs. Nyenze.

Kalonzo was flanked by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, and MPs Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Women Reps Kamene Kasimbi (Machakos) and Irene Kasalu (Kitui),  Kitui County Assembly Speaker George Ndotto and his Makueni counterpart Mbilu, as well as several MCAS.

Senator Wambua condemned attempts by ODM senators to dethrone Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula from his position as Minority Leader of the Senate.  He said Wiper, Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya were against the move.

Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu led his colleagues in supporting Kalonzo’s standpoint on dialogue.

“Wiper as a party supports national unity and reconciliation. But our position as Wiper is that national dialogue must be structured and be done in an inclusive manner,” said Makali.
