Raila hints at radical governance changes

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga claims the referendum push to change the constitution is unstoppable.

Speaking in Nyatike in Migori County on Saturday, the ODM party leader said the handshake deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta will culminate in radical changes to the Constitution despite resistance from some quotas within government.

“You cannot resist change, if you try to resist it, the change will change you. The time for change in Kenya has come and nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come!,” said Raila.

The opposition chief who was leading his ODM brigade in Migori County was peculiarly joined by Migori Governor Okoth Obado, who at the height of his alleged murder case of Rongo University student had decamped to Deputy President Doctor William Ruto’s camp.

Bullish about changes in the Constitution, the opposition leader said it was time the country changed for the better.

The Odinga axis further branded those opposed to the referendum as enemies of the country’s transformation.

“Anyone fighting this building bridges initiative is an enemy of the people of Kenya,” said Suba South Member of Parliament John Mbadi.

The opposition leaders now claim that the referendum is to cure the winner takes it all, disenfranchising poll losers.

This they also claim is a major contributing factor to the high octane divisive political narrative in the country.
