Raila is being unfair to James Orengo Moses Kuria

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has hit out at CORD leader Raila Odinga for apparently downplaying the contribution of Siaya Senator James Orengo in the formation of the report on electoral reforms.

Speaking at Igegania Primary School in Gatundu North on Sunday, Kuria accused Raila of making unreasonable demands regarding the 2017 elections, noting that some of his proposals are not implementable.

“Now Raila is accusing Orengo of being too ready to give in to Jubilee demands during in the negotiation sessions in the Joint Parliamentary Select Committee, which is untrue and uncalled for,” he said.

Kuria accused CORD of changing tune in their demands saying their call for a halt in voting if electronic systems fail is baseless.

“We have decided that if the electoral systems fail during the elections, we will resort to manual voting like we have done before,” said Kuria.

Responding to calls by Raila for consultations in the formation of a new IEBC commission, Kuria said the easier way for the CORD leader to find President Uhuru Kenyatta is in church.

“We know that our president is a God-fearing person and is always in Church. If Raila wants to find the president he should find him in Church.”

Kuria further said that Jubilee party has already won the next elections and is only looking to get a 70 plus one margin.

He called on Kenyans from different regions to join Jubilee so that they can be part of the government in the next elections.

Speaking at the same event, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri said that Jubilee was not worried about IEBC reforms since it is not the commission that votes in elections.

He accused Raila of double-speak in engaging in IEBC reforms saying he would not be satisfied by any reforms.

“Even after giving in to his demands to bring changes in the electoral system and institute an overhaul of IEBC, Raila is now coming up with new demands that there should be no voting if BVR kits fail.”

In his speech when he received the report, Raila had called on President Kenyatta to involve him in the formation of a new IEBC commission to ensure inclusivity in the electoral agency and fairness in the next elections.

CORD has also said that only an electronic system should be employed in the 2017 elections, noting that even if the system fails, IEBC should not revert to manual voting.
